MICROSOFT’S AZURE CLOUD SERVICES TO FORM KEY PLATFORM FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE INSOURCE NHS DATA MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATIONS
5 December 2018 – Reading, UK
Insource have joined forces with Microsoft to help their current and prospective healthcare customers find better ways to purchase, implement, roll out and update their technologies. Microsoft and Insource share a strong conviction that Microsoft’s secure Azure for health cloud platform will be pivotal in the drive to deliver the high performance solutions required for adoption of leading edge digital solutions by the NHS.
Steve Aitken, Insource CEO, explained, “We are already working with progressive NHS Trusts and NHS Regional Initiatives who are pioneers in the move to cloud-based solutions. For example, Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has declared their intention to go server-free and leveraging our Data Academy development environment is vital in this. In addition, the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group are rolling out our Patient Pathway Plus solution for improving RTT data quality across the group, leveraging Microsoft’s Azure cloud services. We’re keen to help more in the NHS understand the benefits and we’re delighted to have Microsoft’s support in this.”
The new partnership comes at a time when the government is planning to downgrade trusts with poor IT and as GDEs are increasingly required to meet digital milestones before accessing funding. These stringent requirements along with continued pressure to ‘do more with less’ in spite of additional funding in some areas, will lead the NHS to adopt cloud-based IT solutions. A reduction in capital expenditure (specifically on databases and on premise storage infrastructures) will be welcomed as will accompanying economies of scale and the improved ability to innovate at pace.
Insource estimates that 50% of its healthcare customer base will be accessing their solutions via the cloud by early 2020.
